Smula is the app I wish I'd had from day one as a mom

When I became a mom I, quite naively, thought life would continue much as before. That I would still be able to go to the same cafés, restaurants and places as before. That wasn't quite the case.

Suddenly every outing required planning. Is there room for the stroller? Do they have a changing table? Is there a restroom nearby if the diaper needs to be changed urgently? Will people give me odd looks if the baby starts crying in the middle of a coffee break? That’s how the idea that later became Smula was born.

As a new mom I quickly learned that it’s not always the big things that determine whether a day feels easy or stressful. Often it’s something as small as knowing where the nearest changing table is. And sometimes you need a little help along the way.

A style inspired by warmth, playfulness and a sense of security

When I developed the app’s visual identity I wanted it to feel warm and reassuring.

The illustrations have soft shapes, hand-drawn lines and a playful expression inspired by children’s books, fairy tales and the little magical moments of everyday life. The color palette consists of warm, soft tones and calm hues that create a friendly and welcoming impression.
