Being the voice for Smula

By Smula Teamet · 13 June 2026

It actually feels a bit extra special to me, since this is my very first job as a voice-over. I'm quite new to this, but also very curious and excited to try something new.

Hi! My name is Annica and I have had the honor of being the voice for Smula.

Since I was asked I've started listening to voices everywhere. Especially on the subway. I've been fascinated by how calmly, clearly and reassuringly information can be conveyed through a voice. Sometimes I've even sat and mimicked the announcements to myself to practice and to feel how different intonations and emphases change the feeling. It's been both fun and inspiring.

When we recorded the voice for Smula I realized how much can actually be packed into a few words. A simple sentence can convey reassurance, help and care. That made me even more motivated to find the right feeling in each recording. For me it has been important that the voice should feel warm, calm and natural. Not like advertising, but more like a friendly parent sharing a tip with another parent. Someone who wants to help in everyday life. During the recording we tried different ways of saying the same things. A little calmer, a little happier, a little more thoughtful. It was exciting to discover how small changes could make a big difference.

Being a small part of Smula's journey feels really nice. I hope the voice will help the app feel welcoming, safe and close – just as we wanted it to feel when we recorded it. And I'm really looking forward to continuing to grow and learn more within the world of voice work.

See you in Smula!
